In this 2 day Face to Face course for experienced computing leaders, you will take your leadership to the next level. Learning how to design inclusive computing units, boost pupil engagement, and build computing capital with career-linked learning and enrichment.
Summary
In this course you will explore how to develop a bespoke curriculum by adapting the Teach Computing Curriculum units to suit your school’s context—factoring in cultural capital, cohort needs, available equipment, and software—while maintaining curriculum coverage and rigour. You will explore inclusive strategies for SEND and higher-attaining pupils, whilst considering budget-friendly teaching approaches, and practical software solutions.
You’ll reflect on what outstanding computing teaching looks like and use tools like the Computing Quality Framework (CQF) to evaluate and improve provision, including transitions across key stages. You will learn effective ways to addresses gender balance in computing. Exploring how stereotypes and biases affect pupil engagement and identifying how to make computing more accessible and empowering for girls.
Finally, you'll explore how to build pupils’ computing capital through career-linked learning and authentic experiences with real-world job roles. Learn how to engage with STEM Ambassadors and make the most of enrichment opportunities to inspire all learners and broaden their understanding of future possibilities in computing.
