The Bell Foundation - EAL Science resources

This collection of resources cover both primary and secondary age groups and can be used to help students learn the appropriate scientific vocabulary associated with different topics and how to use it appropriately in their writing. There is a document giving general guidance on how best to support pupils for whom English is an additional language and the challenges they  face.

The topic specific resources include a comprehensive set of teaching notes which describes how the resources can be used and also the types of language function that is being covered.  For example; asking, describing, explaining.  Most resources also contain accompanying powerpoints and activity sheets which include lots of pictures to help students' understanding of the key words, as well as activities to help students use the language correctly.
