CDT Projects and Approaches
Published on 1986, this resource is a guide to the design process which aims to help students with project work.
Chapter one describes how the process is used in industry, using the examples of the postbox, Ford Sierra car and the Flexistand. Chapters two and three give examples of school projects carried out by students aged between 15 and 16 years. Chapter four gives information about the skills needed in using the design process. Chapter five contains examples of examination answers and shows how to use the design process during craft, design and technology (CDT) examinations. There is a large section of questions taken from CDT examinations as well as other questions and problems for students to solve. Many of the examples given in this resource would be relevant to product design and design skills courses with each one detailing the process of identifying and detailing a problem, exploring and developing ideas, planning, making and evaluation of the project.
