Year Two/Three Autumn Term

This resource has been created for use with mixed age class primary children from six to eight years of age.The two weekly plans support learning about number, place value, money, addition and subtraction and contain differentiated activities for the different year groups, guided tasks and details of resources required for each lesson. Objectives covered in the lessons include:

Week One

Year Two

  • Mark 2-digit numbers on a beaded line, then landmarked line, order and compare
  • Say a number between neighbouring pairs of multiples of ten
  • Count on in tens & back again
  • Make sensible estimates
  • Show 2-digit numbers on a bead string & write corresponding mental addition
  • Partition 2-digit numbers then use place value to add & subtract

Year Three

  • Place 2 & 3-digit numbers on a line, order and compare
  • Understand place value in 3-digit numbers
  • Understand and use place value with money

Week Two

Year Two

  • Partition numbers to 10, then 20 into pairs
  • Record related mental addition sentences & corresponding subtraction facts
  • Recognise the use of a symbol to represent an unknown
  • Count on in tens from any 1-digit number then any number, and back again
  • Relate counting on/back in tens to finding 10 more/less

Year Three

  • Know number bonds to 20 and use in addition and subtraction
  • Use = to represent equality
  • Add or subtract 1-digit to 2-digit numbers
