New understanding science 3: special needs support material
These photocopiable worksheets are designed to support the reading, writing and practical skills of special needs pupils, who may have problems in reading or understanding their science textbooks. This may be the result of general reading and writing difficulties, the use of specific scientific language, or having English as a second language.;The worksheets have been prepared to familiarize pupils with new words, clarify experimental procedures and structure written work.
They are suitable for lower-ability pupils who need significant help, or for building the confidence of more able pupils.;The pack follows the order of New Understanding Science Book 3, which matches the requirements of the Revised 1995 National Curriculum. To extend the opportunities for differentiation the worksheets now support both Core and Extension activities.
They now include: word searches and simple crosswords; structured activity sheets; structured report sheets; matching exercises; close procedures; lists of relevant words for answering questions; and simplified Unit tests.
