Introducing science
The Introducing Science course, written by Sylvia Jackson, was designed to introduce students aged seven to eleven years to the key concepts and skills used in the study of science. The course consists of twelve students' books with a teachers' book for each pair of books. Each students' book contains a range of activities intended to stimulate further investigation and discussion.
The engaging texts explain very clearly how to do the activities and are accompanied by useful illustrations. The course introduces: * The basic concepts of science, together with an examination of their development and inter-relation * The practical skills required for conducting experimental work * The method skills required for carrying out a scientific enquiry * The attitudes accompanying successful scientific enquiry * The relationship between scientific enquiry in the classroom and everyday life.
